About Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI)

Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI) is a o laboratory under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) where one of its focus is Electrochemical science and technology.

E-Rickshaw PowerBattery : Life Cycle Test

Is the life of the PowerBattery more compared to a regular battery for E-Rickshaw application?

Conclusion: A regular battery is replaced every 12 months. Whereas, per the testing done by CECRI, PowerBattery will run for 18 months or more with minimal range degradation.

Inverter PowerBattery : Life Cycle Test

What is the effect on the life cycle of a PowerBattery when it is used with high current charging and high power loads ?

Based on literature, a regular battery discharged to 100% DOD has a life span of 200 cycles under standard conditions. PowerBattery was tested with 60A charge current and with high Power loads with 100% DOD. Under these conditions PowerBattery has life span of around 358 cycles i.e., 1.4 times the regular battery.

There was 12% degradation in the PowerBattery after 358 cycles.

Conclusion: As per the testing done by CECRI, PowerBattery support high current charging , high current discharging and has 40% more life with minimum deterioration.

Does the High Current Charging have any effect on the capacity build up of a PowerBattery?

As per the testing done, PowerBattery was charged at different current and discharged at different currents. The Discharge Ah is almost the same when the battery is charged at high currents (C10, C5, C2 ,1 C)

Conclusion: PowerBattery is able to retain the capacity at High Charging Currents
